They aren't giving them up while Iran keeps shooting missiles. Iran is literally telling the Arab countries that they need someone to keep Iran in check.

Your logic here is the current deterrence logic these countries are working off of.

It's the promise the US made to them in exchange for having bases on their land. The Iranian missiles are a consequence of letting Americans place their war infrastructure inside their countries and then allowing the Americans to use that infrastructure to start a war with Iran.

Iran isn't doing this in a vacuum. Do you think these bases have been able to keep Iran "in check??" Has the presence of these bases made Kuwait or Bahrain safer? Has the US moved its rapidly depleting interceptor stockpiles to protect these countries?

I'm trying to understand why anyone would buy into this logic when the opposite is clearly visible.

I feel as if studio ghibli films being reduced to their 'cozyness' would be tragic if not for the fact that it is a deliberate branding thing for them. from the ghibli museum to the revolving door of hot topic collabs, miyazaki and/or the people he puts in charge of these things are aware of how desirable the worlds within ghibli films are. even at that, how meaningful is the politics of howl's moving castle being motivated by miyazaki's outrage at the 2003 iraq invasion when you examine it alongside the actual text of the wind rises? what does the environmentalism of ponyo mean when faced with the massive amounts of waste generated by ghibli merch you can get at wal mart? i'm straying from the point here but
