I'm having a really hard time. And I just didn't know what to do with myself. Don't try to understand what's going on here.ಠ_ಠ
Но у меня есть вер ми шель, так что уже получше. (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)(͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
But shit happens sometimes.
(I really like to redesign, sorry. ヽ( ´¬`)ノ )
So the tax bill passed, and is on it’s way to 45’s desk. The GOP only needed to have three moral Senators, who would rather millions of people have healthcare than rich people and corporations have tax cuts, and there weren’t even three. Once it becomes law, this tax bill will likely kill an average of twenty seven people per day. You should be horrified and outraged. Here are some things you can do with that outrage:
- Call your Senators and Representatives who voted yes on the bill. Here is a sample script:
“My name is [NAME] from [ZIPCODE] and I am calling to express my extreme disappointment that [SENATOR OR REPRESENTATIVE’S NAME] voted yes on taking healthcare away from millions of Americans to give tax cuts to the rich. I will not forget this and I am going to campaign against them and vote against them in the next election.”
Here is another script.
- Maybe also throw your yes-voting rep an early retirement party. Or write an op ed against them for the local paper.
- Call your Senators and Representatives who voted no on the bill. Sample script:
“My name is [NAME] from [ZIPCODE] and I am calling to thank [SENATOR OR REPRESENTATIVE’S NAME] for voting against the tax bill. I appreciate you having your constituent’s interests at heart.”
- You can also send emails. A lot less effective than calls, but still good.
- If you cannot call, you can ask someone to call for you. If you can call, you can offer to call for people who can’t. If your phone anxiety will deter you from calling, you can leave a voicemail after hours. You can get friends and family to call too.
- Find out who represents you here. Find the list of who voted yes here.
- If you happen to receive any sort of tax cut from the bill, donate it to the campaign funds of Democrats. Either pool funds or the specific Democrats running against your Republican Representatives. Tell your Republican Representatives that you are planning to do this.
- Donate to the campaign funds of Democrats.
- Register to vote if you aren’t registered already. It can take a long time to get registered. Look up the dates of local elections.
- Reach out to people you know who are going to be greatly impacted by this bill.
- Look into your local Indivisible Group.
- Take a breather. Eat and drink. Watch a movie. Do a chore that is totally unrelated to politics. Talk to your friends. Take a walk.
- Don’t give up. Don’t think there is no use fighting. We have won important fights before. Here is a list of them. The GOP wanted to gut the nation’s healthcare system as quickly as possible months ago. We made it so that if they wanted to kill people, they at least had to attend late night votes and get yelled at by constituents and humiliate themselves for months. Our government officials are meant to serve us. If they want to hurt us, and hurt our friends and neighbors, we can at least make sure we don’t make it easy.
A 25 year old woman went to pick up her children which where on the home of his ex husband.
She never returned.
Days later her body was found on a “Centro botanero” (which is like a tiny restaurant) property of her ex... cut in parts D: Like her arms and legs were being cooked on a pot, her pelvis on a bag close by and the rest of the body in the fridge.
Like what the hell D:
