We tried to warn you about the "adult content" bans. Now Kickstarter is starting that shit
"It must have serious value!"
Staight up sounds like obscenity law/Miller Test-type crap.
"Fetishized imagery intended to arouse" well it's a good thing oppressed and vulnerable communities are never fetishized.
Delicious~

The lyrics "I was looking for a job and then I found a job and Heaven knows I'm miserable know" is one of the most relatable things ever written and also explains why Morrissey keeps cancelling every single one of his concerts.
El problema con Morrissey es que cuando hace cosas que suenan bien o comprensibles… lo hace de la forma más odiosa posible.
¿No querer trabajar?, comprensible.

I think you will find that with their inherent understanding of three dimensional space from living in a truly three dimensional environment mermaids make the best astronomers.
Author Demelza Carlton had them also being very good at doing calculations regarding currents too :D
THE GHOST IN THE SHELL | Trailer | July 7, 2026
Wasn't expecting the addition of a Cowboy Bebop-ish saxophone there.
Also, manga/Stand Alone Complex accurate sapphic Motoko?
Wait, she's QUEER?!
I've only seen the original movie from the 90s so clearly they left something out there.
The thing with this franchise is that while the characters' names and the basic premise is the same, each version is kind of its own thing?
Like the original manga is a different entity to the two animated movies which is separate from the show Stand Alone Complex which is unrelated to the live-action movie (which recycles elements of both the show and the movies with... mixed results) which is in turn unrelated to the mini-series GITS: Arise.
In the original manga (which this new show is drawing from) and Stand Alone Complex, she is explicitly bisexual, with both former and current girlfriends and boyfriends.
In the original animated movie and its sequel Innocence her preferences doesn't really come up in the plot, as her being lonely and alienated from other people and herself is kinda the point of the first movie as she's not sure she's a real person or an android that's been tricked into thinkings its human with false memories. You could interpret her friendship with Batou as being romantic, but between the two movies I'd say it's more firmly on the side of them being close platonic friends and that's it.
Arise is the only one to firmly underline that she's straight if I remember correctly, which is one of several reasons I don't really like the mini-series much ( even if it has some interesting parts, like how the cost of the maintenance of cybernetic bodies basically traps those who become cyborgs for government gigs in effectively indentured servitude where they can never earn enough to buy their own bodies to free themselves). It's effectively a recycled version of SAC but less good, and with Motoko designed to look 16 years old for some reason.
The live-action movie I've not gotten around to fully seeing, and while there were elements that certainly fit with the wider franchise outside of just straight references to the movies and SAC (extrapolating from a scene in the movie where it shows that Motoko's body is a default design appearance-wise that's also used for store mannequins, the internal explanation for why Scarlett Johanssen is playing a character with a Japanese name is that they ARE Japanese, but the corporation that turned her into a cyborg defaults to white-appearing bodies as most of their potential customers are in America and Europe or something?). It's a frustrating watch, where the people who made it had evidently seen enough of the prior franchise to reference stuff, but not to understand what they're talking about. Like how ScarJo's original Japanese face is visible if you remove the literal white cybernetic "shell" face off, for example? Or how in a franchise that previously had cybernetics as just a part of every day life for people in the setting, the American movie tried it as tragic and dehumanising when, say, Batou gets the prosthetic eyes of his manga/anime counterparts after getting blinded on the job, for example.
Oh yeah, no idea what her preference is in the live-action movie, but considering how they handled everything else, I'd say they probably defaulted to her being straight. But then she does apparently kiss a woman in the movie, but the context would involve me having to watch it and I don't feel like getting myself annoyed on purpose is a valuable use of my time?
Well at the very least, deftiently gonna watch Standalone Complex too at some point.
It's the best part of the franchise, in my opinion at least. :)
Great theme song too, with hints in the title sequence to Motoko's past that don't become obvious until the second season.
So the Mamorou Oshii films adapt specific plot lines from the manga, "The Puppet Master" and "Robot Rondo" if I recall correctly, but the tone and presentation of the Major is closer to the later chapters of the manga, which makes the storyline a whole different beast, heavy emphasis on the philosophical concepts on what it means to be human when every part of you can be replaced with a machine, and even your brain can be hacked.
Stand Alone Complex doesn't directly adapt any manga storyline but instead focuses on longer story telling on philosophical concepts and the dynamics of the team which, in my opinion, makes it the most faithful adaptation to the spirit of the Manga (and yes you do see Motoko's girlfriends, though not a lot).
Arise forgoes philosophy for more traditional sci-fi cyberpunk, it's hit or miss for me. I also skipped the ScarJo film.
Happy Piccolo Day!!

adult backpack wearers of the world unite
I have a long backpack to transport my dungeon and dragons notebook. My folder with my character page. And my bag of makeup. Sometimes I put other stuff.
I have another backpack that i bought because it was on sale and I had no idea of the notebook would fit (it does) at the moment is my sewing materials backpack. As putting everything there saves me the time of taking it out after clothes making class and putting it again before i go.

It’s so funny to me that the Mr beast team took some mid range influencers on a tour of beast games and put Folding Ideas and Doug Walker in the same group
Seemingly they were very polite with each other as expected from mostly normal adults but imagine going on a tour of Mr beast hq with Doug Walker which is weird enough but you are also someone who made a whole video about how he doesn’t understand creativity or subtext
it's like this
Dan Olson went to Mr. beast games? The things you need to do have the complete information of a thing.
The video about it it’s going to be amazing.
A nervous ward for you on this Friday~

Congratulations, you made it halfway to Halloween! Halfoween is the day when next Halloween appears on the horizon before us and the last one disappears behind. Bake some cookies tonight and start planning, because from now on, it’s getting closer each day!
This is remarkably reassuring.

I had no idea Walpurgisnacht happened on the exact middle
the real answer to almost every "does [identity A] belong in [identity B] spaces" question is actually just "these spaces are informal social groups and if you're cool you can hang, don't worry about it"
You can be Homer Simpson at the lesbian bar. It's fine. Don't worry about it.
not without those fire exits I'm not. have fun in your death trap, ladies
