"Obviously you have proven to be incapable and unwilling to care for yourself so I have now been given the task of looking after you. A near impossible quest I am sure."
Would Beryon take a Sith apprentice prisoner who tried to surrender to him? He wanted to kill Quinn in the AU where Ven'fir is a Jedi, despite Quinn being a not-force-sensitive Imperial while there were two Jedi present and they weren't under pressure of any kind. Would surrendering make a difference? Or begging for their life?
Ooh, a great question! :D
The thing about Beryon is that he’s not actually dark side. He’s not a beacon of purity and light either, but he’s not actively a ‘bad person’.
He is, however, a hardliner.
He’s got a very black and white view of the world, although it’s not as clear cut as ‘bad and good’. He’s got a strict set of morals, but they don’t align to any philosophy already on the market.
His first thought is practicality.
In the AU (here, if anyone is curious), Malavai is aiming a blaster at them and has just admitted to the premeditated murder of a Force sensitive. In V’lante’s mind, that’s enough to make him a tangible threat. Once he’s been ‘classified’, it’s extremely hard to shake that from him. He’s so used to war and making the hard choices that no one else seems able to that he treats everything with the same ‘all or nothing’ mentality. There’s no room for grey areas or compromise. It’s not a healthy mindset.
That said, he isn’t heartless. He’s a good man, deep down, albeit one who is numb and exhausted from years of warfare.
So, if he was faced with an apprentice who surrendered? He would think about it.
Are they genuine, would be his first thought.
If they seem to be genuine in their surrender and not aiming to trick or ambush him, then he would take them prisoner. He doesn’t treat prisoners badly at all, but he also wouldn’t extend them much trust.
Begging wouldn’t help, unless it was backed up with actions. Setting down their lightsaber, for example, or letting themselves be restrained.
Basically, if he thinks you’re a threat? That’s when things are dangerous.
Once he joins the Alliance, he begins to relax. He’s been fighting a guerrilla war with Zakuul since they invaded and is pretty much rogue from the council at this point. He’s worked with a lot of people that he wouldn’t have before, fighting a common enemy. It’s changed his perspective. It takes him a long while, he he does begin to let go of that hardline mindset and become more moderate.
:)
All Good Things sounds so incredibly interesting! Does it have any content warnings (since I noticed that Vaughn is a supporter of the sex industry)?
Hi! Thanks so much for your interest! Warnings wise, it’s aimed at adults but it won’t have anything too explicit. Vaughn just quite likes prostitutes, that’s all. He’s a man of many hobbies, and most of them involve his penis.
There’s no gore or abuse either, but feel free to ask about anything more specific!
This morning I had to threaten my students so they would not spoil Strangers Things for me.
i can't fall in love cause i still love you
using icons from Black Widow just makes me think about how Not Okay natasha is in this run and i'm just backflipping into outer space because in two issues i have maybe three icons where she's smiling -- out of 145 -- and it doesn't get much better in the other eight
