Yesterday while I was taking the time to ease my mind after a stressful day at work, I went to Grimey's and came across this CD. Now usually I don't listen to live albums that much except for "Forest Hill Drive: Live" album (I mean that version just added so much more emotion than the studio version). But I always loved "People Get Ready" and "Makings of You" on this album so I said, "why not". This album has not left my CD player (well till now I heard a nice gem in there). While I was playing this album on my way to the hellhole I call "my job". I realized how much this album still speaks to us even now in 2016. From songs like "We're A Winner", "We've Only Just a Begun", "We the People Who are Darker than Blue" and my personal favorite "People Get Ready", this album still has a message that is relevant today through the police shootings, this election, etc. If you haven't heard this album take a listen. #CurtisMayfield #CurtisLive #peoplegetready #realsoul
