”Reset?” (OFFICIAL REAPERVERSE LORE)
Scarlet opened her eyes to see a void, with a light in the center of whatever area she was in.
She followed the light, stopping when she stood right under it.
A voice spoke from the dark, “Hello, Scarlet. We’ve been awaiting your arrival.”
“…My arrival?” She tilted her head.
Five shadowy figures stepped into the light, they had no discernible features, only their white-crescent eyes and their permanent smiles.
The first spoke up, “…You and your siblings messed with the timeline. This isn’t where any of you belong. You have the chance of a lifetime, to make everything right.”
The second replies, “But, making everything right will cost you dearly.”
The third chirped, “We’ll explain the benefits and the…consequences.”
The fourth grinned, “Just sit back and let us talk.”
The fifth stepped forward, “We’re sure you’ll make the right choice.”
Scarlet hesitantly nodded. She felt like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders, which she probably did.
The first spoke, “If you reset this world, time goes on as it did before. The world’s events will happen all over again, but the same. You’ll remember the previous timeline the moment you are born again.”
The second frowned, “You’ll be back in the facility, and be saved when you’re six years old…you have to endure it for the sake of keeping the timeline safe.”
The third played with her hair, twirling the silky locks in their clawed fingers. “Your daddy will find you, but something will be different. He’ll actually take those sacrifices that he needs.”
The fourth added, “And your family will actually be happy…but you all will go through the same pain you went through tenfold.”
The fifth hummed, “and if you choose not to reset, you’ll be back to pain and suffering.”
They all spoke in unison: “YOUR CHOICE.”
Two buttons appeared in front of her, and she panicked. She felt like she was in a horror movie, exchanging suffering for suffering.
If she resets, her family goes through their trauma again, but worse.
If she keeps this timeline, Grim will die and the world will go to chaos.
She was shaking, her head spinning in every direction.
Her eyes locked onto the RESET button, “…everything will be ok in the end, right?”
The figures nodded.
It went silent.
Eerily silent.
“…I want a happy ending. I’m tired of suffering…I’m sure we’re all tired of suffering.”
She pressed the reset button.
