Mercy Walker was never one to sneak out and then come back at two in the morning, and yet here she was. Years of playing the perfect daughter and staying in her room so often gave her the perfect out. No one would check on her, no one would even THINK she was capable of it. She had done it a time or two, mostly to sneak out to go on an innocent date and keep the poor boy out of any family DRAMA but this was different. Coming in through the back door, alcohol heavy on her breath with wobbling steps. One hand messing with dark hair only dyed the week previous, something to help her BLEND IN more with her peers.
With the recordings she had heard, recordings that everyone had heard, she faced her own obstacles. Was she meant to play the loyal sister or throw him and everything he had done in the nearest DUMPSTER? She certainly caught her own brand of shit for it, the Walker making the entire family a target rather than it once promoting them to a standard that Mercy had once wished to completely ESCAPE from. Either way, she had taken to hanging out with a few of the more outcast types, the lowlifes just to as least numb the throbbing pain in both head and heart.
She found stability in the kitchen cabinet, leaning onto the marble and doing her best to clear her head for the walk upstairs so as not to walk anyone and to just keep from throwing up from the alcohol. At least she wasn’t out partying like her brother had, instead keeping either to her room with her own new STASH she had made or some basement with a few others. At least she wasn’t going out and HURTING others, right?
She had barely let out a soft groan of misery as the continuing spiraling of the world until she heard footsteps and her immediate PANIC came from her parents. They couldn’t find her life this, even Mercy knew she couldn’t inflict that onto them now. But instead it was the very person who had triggered her need to ESCAPE——— her brother. Mercy had to bite back a groan of annoyance. ❝ I thought everyone would be in bed by now. ❞ She had HOPED that they were but to no avail. Right about now, she would easily take her own parents busting her over this meeting. She’d been avoiding him for days, ever since those recordings were published. Always some excuse, even though they lived in the same home.
