Slytherin: The house of ambition, cunning, pride, determination, resourcefulness, and self-preservation.

~Slytherin is the long nights spent outside in the winter weather. The feeling of reading Gothic poetry by the warm fire. Loving seeing flocks of crows in random parks, knowing that someone might be dealt the card of grief.

~Speaking of cards…

~Slytherin is the power to acknowledge the fact that despite your current hand, you can still win the game. The strategy of keeping all your thoughts to yourself. Being weary of anyone and everything they come into contact with.

~Walking into a library and getting high off of the smell of the old and cracked leather bound books. The aromas of fresh ink. Raven feather quills. Procrastinating on projects because you know you'll still get full-marks. And then staying up late working on said projects just to make sure you have all the finishing touches.

~Old leather jackets that smell of stale nicotine smoked from childhood days passed.

~Movies from the 1930s that show just how well-mannered the aristocracy can be.

~Wearing your headphones without any music on just so you can overhear conversations. After all, it's not eavesdropping if they let themselves be heard.

~Unintentionally gossiping because you don't realize that not everyone is as observing as you are. Intentionally gossiping because someone has betrayed your trust.

~Muggle-born housemates being bullied by other pure-bloods and flocking to you because even though you don't like them, you don't bully them. Spending time with your muggle-born housemates even though you know how your parents will react. Being disowned by your family because you had been hanging out with those “filthy mud-bloods”. Walking down dark alleyways alone because you've just been disowned by your family and have nowhere else to go. Being found by a Gryffindor that, despite your reputation,  still takes pity on you and takes you back to their house for the summer. Meeting their family and basically getting adopted by them. Realizing that maybe, just maybe, people from other others aren't so bad after all…
