How long had it been. A year? Two years? Ale had stopped counting. To say that she had given up hope was too depressing. Instead, she had locked away the memory of him so she wouldn't feel the emptiness of his lack of presence. She was good at doing that. In truth, it probably should have been him who had chosen to forget about Alejandra. She ran from him and Theo out of fear of getting close. How could she let herself love them above other humans? They all died. She couldn't let herself show a moment's weakness by letting her heart bend for them. It was better to have left then and not be hurt later, she told herself. Still, after his disappearance, she had taken in his darling Theo. It didn't take long for them to separate, however. A child's blind ignorance and her stubborn ways caused a rift that broke the two of them. Alejandra had half a mind to track the girl down, but once she found Theo was already in the care of another, it was too late to apologize. They would come to forgive each other after a long amount of time, but neither could forget the argument. Theo and Ale would mail "care packages" to him. They would write him letters and leave him voicemails. They had come to learn that by the fourth ring he wouldn't answer. They memorized his answering machine. They would talk until the phone would cut them off. It seemed as if Matthew had just abandoned them like Ale had done before. How many times had she apologized to his voicemail? She had worn her voice out just from saying it to herself in her sleep. Oh, she missed him. Every bone in her body ached with missing him. But she could never tell him that. Two days ago she lit a candle in the window for his birthday. It had since melted to a wax stub, dry drips spilt all over the window sill. She hadn't bothered to put it in a dish. She spent her days at the pottery wheel, or working on her garden, or fixing things around the house, or working on her old beat up truck, or trying to defend her goat and cycles of chickens from the elusive chupacabra. One day she'd catch the damn thing. But she never let herself rest. If she were to rest, she would get weak and cry. Cry for Matthew, cry for his daughter, cry for all the mistakes she knew she didn't have the courage to fix. So she worked. And worked. And never stopped for a break. Keep going, she would tell herself, unless you want the whole world to hear you sob.

I should be used to this already since I have it everywhere, but I'm not! I seriously am surrounded with it since it's my desktop background too and I look at the pictures everyday! I'm almost seriously crying, I have a lump in throat almost and that's only happened once before and this is really weird.

(( Hi hi ;w; That gif set about the praying, what movie is that from, do you know? It looks familiar but I can't seem to place it. ))
The Iron Giant uwubEST MOVIE EVER ;A;
It was another boring end to another boring day. The holidays were coming to an end. The new year was just hours away. Alejandra sat curled up on the couch, chin resting on a pillow. Fireworks were echoing in the distance; some kids were eager to get the show on and were amusing themselves with the boom-sparklies. "Matty," Ale sighed. Where had he disappeared to? Somewhere deep down she knew she missed him, but was too stubborn to ever admit it, even to herself. Ah, that boy had her wrapped around her fingers. . . Stop it! Ale shook her head furiously. No time to think about that! She threw the pillow across the couch and stood up. Time for some tamales.
It didn't mean anything. Nothing. It was a return gesture. That's all it was. He was just being courteous, right? Matthew stared down at the little wrapped present he held in his hands. Did he /have/ to give it to him? Couldn't he just...leave it? Yeah, that seemed smart. Matthew approached the house carefully, then took a deep breath as he set the present down, and rang the doorbell. One, two, three, then, he eased away from the door, and began to walk away.
Arthur had just finished a chapter of the book he was reading, when the doorbell suddenly rang. With a raised eyebrow he made his way to the front door, who on earth would actually be ringing his doorbell? Normally people would either barged in or simply knock. He opened the door, only to find no one there and a present on the doorstep. Now that was quite unusual, he didn't really receive many gifts during Christmas. He picked up the gift and glanced around to see if he could still catch whoever left it for him. He did indeed spot someone walking away, but by now he could only see the silhouette of a boy. He looked back down at it and a small smile formed in the corners of his mouth. "It could not be.."
