Since people are reblogging my salty post from January 2021 about wishing the Rebels sequel were animated, know that I am completely thrilled to finally have our Ghost crew back. Would I prefer it be animated? Yes, but at this point I’m ecstatic to know we’re actually getting more on-screen adventures with these characters I love so much. Plus, we finally get the vindication of knowing we were right all along about the importance of the animated series. This “kids cartoon” started a story that’s being continued in one of the most-viewed series on the planet.

I am calling it now. “Ghost Track 17” is going to be the Sabine and Ezra show, along with the rest of the Ghost family. It’s going to be a live action Rebels sequel.

i think we should just gaslight lucasfilm into thinking they've given us the animated rebels sequel. all of the sudden just start posting about "wow a new trailer!?!? with all of the original cast returning!!" and not shut up about it. start counting down to a release date that doesn't exist. eventually they'll see the hype and think wait, are we releasing a rebels sequel this august? and once they start to believe it too they'll have to give us something

If I’m honest, my ideal (cracky) version of the Ahsoka series (aka the Rebels sequel) would be this back-and-forth between Ahsoka and Sabine, who are travelling the galaxy, helping people and following the general trail of chaos Thrawn and Ezra leave wherever they go; Ezra and Thrawn’s Shenanigan of the Week which is either caused by Ezra helping someone and getting into trouble or Thrawn getting distracted by art; the Chiss Ascendancy where Eli and Ar’alani ( with Un’hee at their side) are doing literally everything but actively searching for Thrawn and still somehow are always closer to finding him and Ezra than Sabine and Ahsoka are; and Lira San/whereever Hera is, where it’s just lots of Space Family feels.

TL; DR: something like this:

Ahsoka: And you saw them over there?

Random person: *nods and points to their left* YES! They destroyed my cabbage cart!

Sabine: *sighs* Sounds like Ezra alright. Let’s go check if anyone saw a blue art freak anywhere.

Random person #2: That sounds like Jabba’s Uncle!

Ahsoka: Jabba...?

Sabine: *rolling her eyes* Ezra.

Ahsoka: *reminded of the stuff Obi-Wan pulled* Ah, I see

Meanwhile...

Ezra and Thrawn: *strolling through some jungle*

random monsters: *attack them*

Ezra and Thrawn: *kick the monsters’ asses/tame them but also destroy half the jungle*

Thrawn: Quick, find their lair! I must learn of ther tactics!

Ezra: *excited about getting to do more stuff with his animal buddies* Hell yeah!

Thrawn: *droning* and the shape of the entrance indicates that... Ezra, are you awake?

Ezra: *lulled to sleep by Thrawn’s voice* Yes! Totally! 

Meanwhile, on Lira San

Hera: *sitting at the dining table with Kallus* How nice of you two to have us!

Kallus: We couldn’t deny an old friend like that. And Zeb certainly enjoys having Jacen over.

Jacen and Zeb: *cute uncle-nephew bonding*

Chopper: *evil robot laughter*

Un’hee: *being Eli’s unofficial daughter*

Eli: *being his lovable dad!self*

Ar’alani: *being awesome*

Thrawn and Ezra: *drift by in an escape pod*

I think that, for me, any ending that the Rebels Sequel gives us won’t feel complete without Kanan. Even if the Ghost family reunites with Ezra, it won’t be the same because there’ll be a gaping hole where Kanan used to be. I know it’s extremely unlikely that Kanan will come back, but that’s how I feel. It just won’t be the same.
