I am probably grossly misunderstanding the challenges here but sometimes I wish art was more like being a fruit merchant or something, like people consume your stuff because you set up shop in their line of sight and everyone likes apples okay I guess and everyone has to eat.

Like okay I bet the business is cut-throat and if some other fruit merchant lures away your customers you are finished, but it's not like there are literally millions of little fruit merchants around and customers are ONLY buying the apples that just so happen to have the exact shapes, sizes and colors that just so happen to catch their eye that day among all the alternatives.

Like I guess what I am saying is that for art you have to be special, and nothing proves to you more surely that you're NOT special like art does
