They turned Pike’s love interest into Captain Marvel and actually Pike reminds me a lot of Peacemaker over at DC.
The thing is, Uhura saves the day in Beyond. She uses her skill, her exceptional linguistic abilities, to figure out something really important.
I think it shows how different Beyond is from the other movies. Uhura is a strong, female character that plays a pivotal role in the resolution of the plot. In the previous reboot movies, female characters haven’t even had any ranks on their uniforms.
I love the fact that not only is Uhura shown to be important, but it highlights that she’s the best at what she does.
