hi jupi what have been your favorite reads of the year?

oooh this is such a fun question‼️‼️‼️ first book that popped into my head was Notes of a Crocodile by Qiu Miaojin. It's so obsessive and self-destructive and honestly more telling than showing, and i think it's not for everyone but it was for meeee. perfect amount of dark drama with an emerging crocodile population that pretends to be human. which could mean nothing.

But i also deeply loved Kaveh Akbar's Martyr! im not sure what to say about it other than you HAVE to read this. a beautiful search for meaning in turmoil.

This is a very yellow year for me. So to bring something different: for a memoir i highly recommend The Magical Language of Others by E.J. Koh. In short, it's a family history and a collection of translated letters sent from mother to daughter. my goodreads review that i still havent updated: man.... most devastating memoir ive ever read🚬🚬🚬.

hi cor! this is such a lovely question i fear is a little wasted on me as i don't do too much of that 😭, the changing of seasons isn't really something i pay too much attention to as i live in a tropical climate rather than temperate, however this year i am planning to replant my little balcony garden (and have been fixing it up in preparation) at the end of march/start of april when it becomes the dry season! other than that... i like to clean out my kitchen cupboard, drawers, and fridge every 2 months? that's really about it

No time limit on altered states of perception

I had a comment removed as "Misinformation" by a mod of a Witchcraft tumblr group.

I was surprised to see the claim that higher states of awareness can only be maintained for 15 minutes. From my own experience, this doesn’t match reality.

States of perception aren’t necessarily bound to a specific time limit. They’re much more dependent on the amount of energy a person can sustain or access. In my practice, I’ve personally experienced higher states of perception for several hours at a time without the use of any substances.

Practices such as recapitulation — reclaiming energy that’s been tied up in past experiences like sex, worry, emotionally charged events, or relationships — can expand a person’s available energy. Additionally, many traditions speak of drawing energy from nature or in-organic beings as a way of maintaining these states longer.

This isn’t about gatekeeping but about sharing perspectives and experiences. Spiritual and magical practices are diverse, and people can have very different experiences depending on their methods and energy work.

omg top 5 of pure enjoyment…. well ones i think are fun and ones i think are good are two diff lists but there is some overlap…

1. My School President- just so much fun, the comedy is well done, the characters are fun, and i had the best time watching it. it helps im just a sucker for geminifourth as a pairing.

2. kinnporsche- unfortunately on the list. i love it so much though like its so bad but also had so much potential which makes it good but genuinely if you are watching it for the love of the game….. its amazing. plus where would i be without my beloved kinnporsche gifs <3

3. 23.5- similar to my school president, just a genuine joy to watch! it’s lighthearted and fun and two older trans lesbians side characters??? amazing, beautiful, i want more of this all the time.

4. bed friend- i just had a lot of fun watching this one. pretty basic i suppose in plot but the actors really sell me on it and it does have its strong points. plus i’ll never forget that cat ears scene what the fuck was happening….

5. moonlight chicken- cheating really bcus i wouldn’t say the viewing experience was….Joyus but man. everyone has to watch moonlight chicken i cried like a baby and li ming and heart are characters watching anything for….

special mentions bcus these are really …Something else but i watch these shows like a sporting event which is what makes it fun:

after so long without reading i got back into it! yay! i'm reading various nonfiction polish books abt topics revolving around social work, cultural anthropology, mental&physical disabilities and so on and so on :)

and to break a streak when i get overwhelmed by what i'm reading (now it's a book about domestic abuse in polish households) i've got a tome of poetry by Adam Zagajewski :) i enjoy his work a lot and he's got quite a lot of works translated to english too! so u can check him out :)
