Reciprocity Failure

Reciprocity failure is when the reciprocity law fails due to very short or very long exposures. This is only a problem in film photography. The normal rules don’t apply if film is getting shot in low light situations as a longer length of exposure is needed to get a perfect exposure. This means if you half the f-stop, doubling the exposure time may not work and extra time would be needed.
