Song to song, I pass my time
With these speakers on ten
✨,❤️&✌🏼
Your leavin' left me goin' crazy
I'm countin' on a needle to save me
I drop it in the groove
And we go 'round and 'round
And down in a spiral
Record Year- Eric Church

GALTx eNews: 2017 Broke GALT Records!
Last year set a new record for GALT with 191 incoming hounds! Of these, 133 hounds came from breeders, kennels, farms, or the blood bank in Cherokee, including 30 hounds from the closing of the Mobile Greyhound Parkin Alabama. Twenty-one hounds came to us as strays. Twenty hounds transferred to GALT from municipal shelters or humane societies, including Marge and her three puppies, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Bart is the last of the family looking for a forever home. Twelve hounds returned to us because of changes in their adopters' life circumstances. Four hounds (Ned, Rolo, Blackie andBono) came all the way from Ireland via A Grey's Home in Belgium. And finally, one greyhound transferred in from another adoption group.
Adoptions increased nearly 18 percent from 2016 - up to 168 for the year! See just some of our cute adoption photos here. Notable adoptions included Viola and Skipper, who both had to recover from significant injuries before moving on to their forever homes. Sasha was the first adoption from GALT's expanded operations in New Mexico. Thanks to all who helped establish a network of foster families, new adopters and meet and greets, especially our New Mexico representatives, Diane and Todd Howell. Many more adoptions are sure to follow.
Our medical, boarding and support costs for 2017 exceeded $310,000, including the medical expenses for Cactus, four incoming hounds with broken bones, and treatment for several cases of tick borne disease and heartworm. Click here to help cover these costs with a donation. As we start 2018, we have 85 dogs in our program, 20 of which are in boarding awaiting one of our most scarce resources, a foster home.
Many thanks to everyone who organized, donated to, hosted, planned or attended our events supporting the hounds in 2017, including numerous meet and greets, the Great Retired Athletes Benefit Dinner and Auction, The North Texas Irish Festival, GALT's Sweet Sixteen Birthday Bash, Pints for Pups at Mutts Cantina, The Mad Hatter Gala, Cooking for the Hounds, North Texas Giving Day, Racers 'n Referees Round of 18 Golf Tournament, Greyhounds in the Country, Strut Your Mutt, 30 for 30 On Line Auction, GALT's Greyt Raffle, 4Cherokee Auction, Giving Tuesday, the Greytstore Holiday Boutique, and our December Matching Fund Campaign!
We are wishing all a happy and peaceful 2018. We can't wait to share the new year with you all!
