I don't usually use recording tools to write UI tests, but when I do, it's to give me a hint of how to find or interact with an element.

If you want to write UI tests with good, maintainable architecture, recording tools are not the way to go. In my mind, nothing demonstrates the need for having human input into your code more blatantly than what happened to me while using Xcode's UI test recording tool.

I wanted to tap a button marked 'SIGN OUT' in a UIWebView, but wasn't seeing anything when trying to find buttons on the screen. As it turns out, I should have been looking for links rather than buttons.
