Throwback to the times I tried to imitate paintings while quaranting and finishing uni in a hotel room.
Where's Tseng? Oh, I guess he's out "picking flowers"....
So here's the finished artwork and I gotta say that it's SOOOOOO much easier to draw backgrounds in digital art when you have layers. Although I admit I made a mistake this time by drawing the foreground first, background second (in most cases the other way around is easier). I did make a mess at a few of these edges. I went with my third concrete style, sans the dots, and ended up adding some more structure and definition to the surface using colored pencil and it look sooo nice. The green is coming through a bit on the glove, though. Guess the scanner picks up on colors that I can't even see with my eyes lol.
hello! I have an art project where I have to recreate a painting in real life. do you think you can maybe help by posting some paintings that aren’t hard to recreate? preferably with a female in the painting. thanks so much
That’s so fun! I went through some of my favourites and I’m not sure if they’ll be easy as it depends on what you’ve got prop-wise but they might be fun!
You could do something really dramatic (Like The Persian Sibyl, by Guercino or Mary Magdalene as the Melancholy, by Artemisia Gentileschi) and use sheets for robes and dress.
These two are so striking and might be doable! The Little Village Girl with Red Carnation, by Adolfo Guiard and Woman in a Yellow Dress, by Max Kurzweil:
I think the Portrait of Princess Royal Mary Stuart, by Bartholomeus van der Helst could be a not too hard one, just get a big sheet for her dress and grab an orange. Or A Shepherdess, by Paulus Moreelse!
The recreation thing reminds me so much of A Love Letter to Rosetti, for Vogue Italia, by Donna Stevens. If you’re looking for inspiration I definitely would recommend checking that out. In fact the pre-raphaelite paintings would be great to try in general, you just might have to tease your hair more than anyone in the 80′s ever accomplished.
Also some famous paintings from other areas of the world would be great! I’d definitely take a look at Amrita Sher-Gil’s work. Or if you want to go Medieval, and conviently have a weird man-like baby doll around, you can try a Madonna and Child re-creation.

I’ve gotten into ‘remaking fanart into cosplay’ and I am kind of enjoying it. There are so many great artists that give me cosplay ideas.
This time I got the idea from @jotadepes ! I loved the idea of a flower tie, so I made one myself…and tried to recreate this art piece!
This is so odd, eerie, and beautiful.
