Rant #3: Schedules and Recurring Events

As you may have noticed, the title of this post no longer says "'Weekly' Rant," not even with quotes. And this is just my third rant... So from now on, I will not be making my rants a periodical thing.

Okay, look. I know that schedules make everything go smoother, but I rarely follow them anyway. This is probably pretty obvious, given the fact that I gave up on "Weekly" rants the week I decided to make them "weekly."I have to admit. I am a procrastinator. In fact, if I set countdowns for my assignments or whatever, by the time they're turned in, the countdown is already counting back up. Sure, there are SOME things I'm actually on time for, but they're important, at least to me.

It's kinda funny, because the one kind of scheduled events I'm fine with are regularly scheduled events. Except when it's something like posting to social media. I once tried to update a book I'm writing on a weekly basis. At least that commitment lasted longer than this one. A little bit. But i still dislike scheduled events; doctor's appointments, meetings, practices, driving lessons... Never mind the last one. I can't wait until my next driving lesson. But I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO REMEMBER EVERYTHING.

Before I continue, let me tell you a secret: I can read your mind. Right now, I believe you're thinking... "Why don't you just set a reminder on your phone?" Simple... I don't want to have to remember to look at it. When I turn on my phone, my first thought is not, "I wonder if I have a scheduled event coming up." If it was, I would have actually remembered what I should be getting ready for.  And I don't want to set an alarm a day early. What's worse is setting an alarm just ten minutes early, thinking, "HOLY SHIT I HAVE TO GO," and running out the front door half naked. I don't care what other ideas you may come up with, because I don't like reminders. Well, that's it for today, because I'm kind of tired. Expect the next rant... When I post it.
