Because Senku has a rare form of albanism (white hair, red eyes and light skin) his eyes don't have any melonin to protect them from the sun over time. Eventually, he needs glasses to see normally.
Senku finds his glasses to be a hindrance, having to remember to put them on and clean them and adjust them before and during experiments.
Gen finds them extremely attractive.
I just want to throw out there that I'm STILL upset with how Gambit was portrayed in Origins. </3
