If you've been regularly following JOVM for the past year or so, you may have come across several posts about the Miami, FL-based Albert Ovadia, a musician, producer and electronic music artist, who writes and records under the moniker of Red Traces. Ovadia has garnered quite a bit of attention across the blogosphere for an extremely cinematic and futuristic sound that bears a resemblance to Giorgio Moroder's 80s output and contemporary artists such as Umberto and others.
Ovadia's latest single "EVENET" is the last song of an series of songs with an overarching narrative. The songs take place in a dystopian and horrifying post apocalyptic future that bears an uncanny resemblance to our own present. Much like the previously released track, the song is comprised of ominous, swirling electronics and layers of undulating synths; however, whereas the other songs were purely instrumentals, this latest single pairs eerie atmospherics with plaintive vocals in a way that will remind some listeners to Depeche Mode.

Miami, FL-based musician, producer and electronic music artist Albert Ovadia writes and records under the moniker of Red Traces. And if you're familiar with this site over the past few months, you may have come across a couple of Ovadia's Red Traces singles; in fact, I was particularly drawn to the cinematic sound and to the futuristic, dystopian future his previous singles seemed to evoke. Ovadia's latest single "Phantom" much like his previously released singles further cements his reputation for crating movie-like soundtracks. However, the latest single manages to sound much more like a tribal rave -- the sort you'd imagine would happen after society collapsed and everyone banded together into nomadic tribes, as the song is comprised of tightly controlled, undulating synths, swirling electronics, industrial noises and steady yet thunderous bass and drums.
"Phantom" may arguably be Ovadia's most menacing and darkest track he's released to date, and interestingly enough the track kind of reminds me of Snap!'s "Rhythm Is A Dancer," a song that I haven't really thought of in several years -- moody, dark and yet danceable.
Albert Ovadia is a Miami, FL-based musician, producer and electronic music artist, who writes and records under the moniker of Red Traces. As Red Traces, Ovadia has crafted an extremely futuristic sounding electronica. Whereas "Silver Wave" sonically was an icily futuristic track that featured layers upon layers of propulsive, undulating synths. room rattling drums and bass, "Spectre," Ovadia's latest single sounds and feels anxious and evokes a dystopian and horrifying future, thanks layers of tightly controlled synths, swirling electronics and clashing and clanging industrial noises. But although very different, "Spectre" also manages to continue Ovadia's reputation for crafting cinematic movie soundtrack styled soundscapes in the fashion of Umberto and others.
