I think I’ve said something like this already but I still don’t understand why people think that having robots would have prevented the food crisis thing.

Allocator Savo clearly had to have yellows and purples in on his plan. Regardless of whether they were bribed, threatened, intimidated, or agreed with him, there’s no way to rearrange a bunch of food handling protocols without having some involved.

If you can get a bunch of yellows and purples to change around your food handling procedures so reds can get in and do stuff, you can just as well get them to redirect red-work robots. Which is in fact more of a threat because at least there’s some chance some reds will alert someone (even as if that happened in this case it was clearly cut off earlier). Robots will never do that.

(For anyone who might say ‘ok but Allocator Savo did this to benefit reds, which would not have come up if we had robots’ - assuming he actually did it for that reason, that is, as noted, so utterly stupid that there’s no point in planning with it specifically in mind, anymore than sturdy frying pans are a way to decrease murder despite that case a few seasons back where the murderer found that his frying pan was broken and was so angry he broke into his neighbor’s apartment and killed him with it). In general someone trying to cause a food pollution crisis is a lot more likely to be trying to start a war, or to commit an act of terrorism, or to do random mass-level exposure therapy (that’s also horrible and stupid, but at least more than one person ever has suggested it as a good idea). And robots will make this easier not harder.)
