You guys crack me up with your nick names for your horses. I find that most horses will pop/drop the inside shoulder or fall out or in with the haunches while losing impulsion ;) Your problems can be pretty typical of a lot of horses as well.
I guess we can get a bit crazy with the nicknames, huh? The Ginger Giraffe, Naponyeon, Gangnam Style, Stupidface… Ah, well, that’s the problem with having a Theatre nerd run half of this blog!
I’m sue Stupidface does both of those as well - Dressage is not his forte, mostly because of how LONG he is. EVERYWHERE. It’s absolutely ridiculous (like there was this one time Embee rode him and she was all “wtf why are there AN EXTRA TWO FEET OF HORSE” and it was really funny). He’s gotten so much better - I think I’ll post some before and after photos for you.
But, in all seriousness, he just lifts his head quite a bit and my coach has to remind me to attempt to lower it with the outside rein. He and Gangnam Style also have the habit to bend to the outside, though Gangnam Style does it more than Stupidface. Embee worked her butt off with GS and they’re doing a lot better now. GS is a lot better at jumping, I think, just like Stupidface, but GS’ owner does more jumping than Dressage with him, so I think Embee is just revisiting some dormant territory with that.
I talk too much.
