@thestagandthedragon? @jojobird ? Or @pinesmoke ? Or anyone you guys know? So, we bought a red-tailed boa today, which requires similar living conditions to a ball python: high heat, high humidity. Maybe even a higher than a python. BUT keeping the humidity high is an issue. We tried the plastic bin before, but that didn't work. We have a nice thick layer of cypress mulch (which we will mix with sphagnum moss the next time we change it out to see if it helps). I think the main problem is that we use a ceramic heat emitter in addition to a UTH. But we would like to use it rather than plaster UTH's along all the sides (on one half of course) because it's EXPENSIVE, and this little sucker is going to grow FAST, and we can't afford to keep buying four new UTH's every time.... and even now he is basking under the bulb, he loves the heat... We also have the over half of the screen top covered to help hold in humidity. We recently bought the Reptifogger, but I don't like it. I'll keep it on until the humidity is around 70%, but it will drop back down to 50% within 10-20 minutes, and I don't think the rapidly and constantly changing humidity is good for them either. I would love to just keep the fogger on constantly at a low setting, but it is in the instructions not to do that, because it will break the machine. Has anyone tried the Monsoon rain/mist-maker one? Would that work better???? Anyway, and help would be appreciated. I've looked through so many snake forums, and not much has helped.... :(
