Audio Drama Sunday - 22 February
A late update this week! My to-listen list has also piled up to almost 90. I’m trying to avoid looking at it. @theredactedunit — Minisode: Sloanly: this episode was so sweet and sad. Sloan in this episode felt like so much more of a person, even though we’d been shown a lot of her personality beforehand. Her friendship with Dr Danse, the way they were both going to make up and then backed out again, the way her colleague almost definitely thought she was hitting on her 😭 get that woman some friends. Specifically Dr Danse, but more too. 👹
His Royal Fakin’ Highness — 4. Give Me Some - 8. A Very Unhappy Re-Birthday: the relationship between O and Leo is a delight. In these episodes, they actually start acting like a couple. We get more information about Ophelia and the King — the way she snuck him Snickers as a kid and they’d sit together in the garden. He isn’t even present, but he really is the ghost in the plot. Unfortunately, it is still a Hamlet adaptation so things can’t be easy. Currently, Hamlet is awful and Ophelia deserves better. 👑
@somethingsamissatjunipershouse — The Day I Spoke to Juniper: a Bloody FM production!! You need to listen to this podcast Stat. Finley has a kind of quiet, sad life until they talk to gorgeous, alluring Juniper in the park and actually score a date! But Juniper’s life isn’t what it seems. My current theory is that she talks to quiet, shy people, strings them along, brings them into her household and discards them emotionally when she gets bored. I might be completely wrong, but I’m calling it. And that she had something to do with Finley’s dad “leaving”. Either way, the group that produced The Gospel of Haven and Shelterwood is definitely backing another great LGBT show. It’s got similar vibes to How to Win Friends and Disappear People, but I prefer this so I’m on tenterhooks for episode 2. 🏚️
Ghost InSpectors — Episode 1: A Halloween to Die For - Episode 2: Unfinished Business: who here likes friendship, mystery and sadness? Ghost InSpectors has it all. Mulligan and Ned are private detectives looking into a serial killer on Halloween, until they wake up by the side of the road with no memories of how they got there. They walk back home, where they discover all their friends mourning them. This podcast has got in a few good (small) twists already, and waiting for the penny to drop regarding their deaths was painful. I love their friendship, and I can’t wait for them to discover the serial killer and remember how they died, even though I know the ending to this podcast will crush me. This podcast also made it onto my list of audio dramas to test your detective skills, if you want to get some other cool investigative podcast recs. 👻
