Since you seem to be generally excited about plants: What's you favourite tree species and why?

Psh... me? excited about plants?? no way...

Yes I’m always excited about plants they’re so rad 

My favorite type of tree is the redbud (cercis canadensis, if you want the actual scientific name). 

Both of my parents are from Oklahoma and a lot of my family still lives there, so I think part of my love for it is that connection to Oklahoma it has for me, since it’s the state flower.  I grew up with a redbud tree in my front yard, surrounded by stepping stones that my brothers and I had made throughout the years. We lost the tree in a storm a few years back, but it was always a staple of the house, and we’ve kept the place where it used to be pretty much intact.  Also, besides my nostalgia for them, they’re just nice. They’re very pretty, and their leaves are shaped kind of like a heart, and I like how common they are across the United States. Although I always appreciate rarity, there’s something to be said for beauty being widespread, available to the masses. I just really appreciate them, just for existing.

I thought this little redbud tree in my backyard had succumbed to bagworms but it looks like it’s doing just fine! I’m so proud of this little tree! Redbud is one of my absolute favorite trees.
