Spin a Thon for Help Our Military Heroes-6AM-3:30 PM Saturday New York Sports Club 38 Mill Plain Road- classes throughout the day. The day includes, Spin, Cross Fit WOD, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates and many other fitness activities for both adults and children. Food and Beverages are served throughout the day. A donation of $15/class is suggested. Proceeds benefitHelp Our Military Heroes who that provide wounded veterans with modified vehicles that are wheelchair accessible.
Heart of Winter Art Reception- Saturday 4-6PM Danbury Museum 43 Main Street- meet local artists with work in the show. I personally have art in this show, so this is a chance to see my sculpture and ask what the heck is up with the three headed werewolf.
CAMBIANDO VIDAS fundraiser- Saturday 6:30-9:30 PM , Eclipse Cafe 40 Elm Street Danbury- Dominican food and music and a lesson is salsa dancing.$30 per person for the evening. Proceeds benefit CAMBIANDO VIDAS which builds housing for low income families in the Dominican Republic. Their upcoming building trip is February 9th to 16th or February 16th to 22nd if you want to travel and volunteer on vacation.
Bowling for Dream Come True- Sunday 11AM-2PM 145 Danbury Rd, New Milford. Stop by anytime during the event to bowl. entry fee of $10 per person or $20 per family of up to six people allows participants to bowl for the reduce rate of $2.50 per string, including free shoe rentals. Money benefits Dream Come True, who grant wishes for chronically and teminally ill children.

CT POPS! auditions- Tuesday Janunry 29th & February 5th 7:15-9:15 Naugatuck Valley Community College, waterbury- The band has been organized by a group of local musicians who range from amateurs to professionals and will be in residence at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury. They will have the use of their auditorium, equipment, and music library for rehearsals and performances. The group will be under the direction of Dr. Richard Gard of Yale University School of Music and Music Director at NVCC. They will be playing a traditional
pops repertoire that has appeal to a wide range of audiences and will perform winter and spring concerts at NVCC as well as at Waterbury’s Palace Theatre in May. Connecticut POPS! is unique in that it is open to adult community members with intermediate to advanced playing ability as well as college and high school students who wish to register through the college for credit. Signup for Aspetuck Valley Rugby- open enrollment, practices start in February- New high school age level league is opening up. No experience necessary and most of the people joining won't be familiar with rugby either, so everyone starts on a level playing field. Amazing Grace Concert for Healing- sunday 3-5:30PM Sunday Creative Music Center 1014 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe- an afternoon of music in honor of Sandy Hook elementary- free admission
-Adopt a Sandy Hook/Newtown Cop-ongoing, online. Donations and encouragement sought for first responders that are currently on leave while they try to recover from the psychological effects of the Sandy Hook tragedy. Donations go towards providing groceries for officers that are on medical or psychological leave. See their group on Facebook for current needs
Kitties for Kids- ongoing 1-5PM BY APPOINTMENT at Kitten Associates, Newtown- one on one pet therapy with kitten associates kittens in foster care. Children that are reluctant to talk to a counselor will often talk to an animal. Program is open to anyone age 4 and up. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Kids will be offered a plush toy yo take home that they can talk to and cuddle to help them deal with their feelings.To set up a visit, request a free plush for your child, or to donate to the plush kitten purchase fund, interested parties should email Kitten Associates [email protected] or call 203-744-9CAT (9228).
