I Came for the Plot, Stayed for the Ethical Deterioration
I’m not here for the heroes who save the world. I’m here for the ones who look at the world, shrug, and say “meh” while sprinting toward the one person they’d commit arson for.
Morally gray characters? Yes. Give me the ones who lie, cheat, steal, and occasionally stab — but only for love. Or revenge. Or because someone looked at their soulmate funny.
Redemption arcs? Sure, I’ll take one if it’s spicy. But honestly? I prefer when they stay unhinged. Let them be problematic with a purpose. Let them choose the messy, emotionally devastating path.
I want the character who says “I could save the world… but my lover is in danger, and the world can wait.”
Bonus points if they make that choice while bleeding, emotionally compromised, and halfway through a monologue about how love is weakness.
I don’t want balance. I want chaos, loyalty, and questionable ethics wrapped in a trench coat.
Now give me recommendations of watches or reads with this. Straight or bl.
