No dia 5 de maio de 2022, a ex-primeira-dama e secretária de Estado dos Estados Unidos, Hillary Clinton, inaugurou a primeira embaixada global para mulheres, em Washington, D.C., EUA. O projeto da embaixada foi financiado pela Vital Voices Global Partnership, ONG fundada pela própria Hillary junto de Madeleine Albright, ex-secretária do Estado, e que tem como missão a promoção de lideranças de mulheres ao redor do mundo.
A embaixada consiste em um prédio em que cada sala leva o nome de uma liderança mundial, como é o exemplo da Biblioteca, que leva o nome da vencedora do prêmio nobel da paz Malala Yousezfai, e da galeria de arte que leva o nome da carioca Panmela Castro e de Samar Minallah Khan, ativista paquistanesa.
Panmela participa ativamente da Vital Voices Global Partnership há mais de 12 anos, graças ao reconhecimento do seu trabalho pela promoção dos direitos das mulheres através da Rede NAMI, ONG fundada pela artista em 2010 e que usa as artes para promover nossos direitos.
A Panmela Castro and Samar Minallah Khan Gallery, galeria de arte nomeada em homenagem à artista representada pela Galeria Luisa Strina e que em outubro de 2021 inaugurou a sua primeira individual em São Paulo, “Ostentar é estar viva”, será o espaço onde jovens artistas ativistas ao redor do globo vão poder promover seus trabalhos de arte.
A Vital Voices acredita na verdade universal em que mulheres são a chave para o progresso de suas comunidades, e que as nações só podem seguir em frente uma vez que elas ocupem espaços de poder. A ONG já investiu em mais de 20.000 agentes de transformação, passando por 184 países desde sua formação, há 24 anos atrás.
On May 5, 2022, Former First Lady and United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton opened the first global embassy for women in Washington, D.C., USA. The embassy project was financed by Vital Voices Global Partnership, an NGO founded by Hillary together with Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State, whose mission is to promote women's leadership around the world.
The embassy consists of a building in which each room is named after a world leader, as is the example of the Library, named after the Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousezfai, and the art gallery named after Panmela Castro and Samar Minallah Khan, a Pakistani activist.
Panmela has actively participated in the Vital Voices Global Partnership for over 12 years, thanks to the recognition of her work in promoting women's rights through Rede NAMI, an NGO founded by the artist in 2010 that uses the arts to promote our rights.
The Panmela Castro and Samar Minallah Khan Gallery, an art gallery named in honor of the artist represented by Luisa Strina Gallery and which in October 2021 opened her first solo show in São Paulo, “To Flaunt is to be Alive”, will be the space where young artists activists around the globe will be able to promote their artwork.
Vital Voices believes in the universal truth that women are the key to the progress of their communities, and that nations can only move forward once they occupy spaces of power. The NGO has already invested in more than 20,000 change agents, passing through 184 countries since its formation, 24 years ago.
