Happy Hanukkah! Here's for Willow and the Buffyverse fans who celebrate 🕎
‘It’s an egg. It doesn’t emote.’
A line that still runs through my head when I cook eggs
“Bad Eggs” is a fantastic episode for one reason and one reason alone. Buffy, getting dragged by a tentacle around her foot to face a monster in the depths below…snatching a pitch axe as she goes…incomprehensible screeching and fighting sounds as battle goes on unseen…death cry…Buffy crawls out, absolutely spattered with its colorful blood from head to toe (except her hair, which is perfectly untouched)…and she just looks at the vampire who wanted to kill her with total surety of the promise of death in her eyes and he promptly runs away. After skipping it on multiple buffy rewatches, I finally watched Bad Eggs, possibly for the first time since I first watched the show, and gotta say? It is not terrible. I mean, it’s not world-shattering compared to the actually good episodes, but it’s kind of charming in a 60s sci fi kind of way. You get a great little slice of Xander and Cordelia’s building hate-romance, the characters and actors have hit their strides…honestly I would watch this one again in future.
