To say Gotham was an unsafe city would be a massive understatement. Sure, they had masked vigilantes who were very good at their job, but the police force was lacking and the criminal asylum had a revolving door. That’s dangerous enough without mentioning the run of the mill thugs and the pollution that was likely slowly killing them all.
It wasn’t uncommon for the woman to see crimes taking place, even when she wasn’t on the clock for Mary Dahl. It was simply the city she lived in.
This is why she wasn’t at all surprised to see two grown men struggling to hold a thrashing child. A kidnapping, she assumed. None of her business, but she wasn’t overly fond of those who harmed children, nor would she mind the opportunity to flex her muscles.
The click clacking of high heels against pavement quickly getting louder was all the warning given before she was on them. The first man was met with a flying kick to the head, promptly knocking him unconscious and causing him to drop the child.
The other man went after her with a knife, but he only managed a single slash to her arm before she retaliated with a kick to his stomach. With the wind knocked out of him, the woman took the opportunity to knee him in the face repeatedly, breaking his nose before she threw him face first into a brick wall.
With both men out cold, she dusted herself off, soon noticing the gash in her arm and letting out a displeased, but relatively unfazed, “Uch.”
