this couldn’t be real. ayano was dead. she couldn’t have come back, she was dead, SHE WAS DEAD! and yet, she was right there, unmistakable with her red scarf. as if she’d never left.
tsubomi tried to squeeze the words from her throat, but found it difficult at first. there was so much she wanted to say, so much she wanted to do, to tell her. the urge to yell, cry, dissolve into tears and groans was present, but most of her mind just focused on the words.
where have you been? why did you do that? why did you leave us behind? you left me to take your place, and i know i failed that much. and yet, i’m here.
and yet she knew she couldn’t say all that. to do so would be cruel, especially if she wasn’t ready yet.
instead, tsubomi took a breath, before calling out. “a-ayano!”
