Italian Renaissance 2025 upgrade, WIP: Upgrading the sleeves of this gold-yellow late-15th century damask kirtle/gamurra for an Italian Renaissance outfit (this kirtle also doubles as the underdress for my 15th century Burgundian court attire) 😀☀️. They were originally only detachable at the shoulders, but I adore the Italian Renaissance looks where the sleeves are also cut at the elbow and along the arm (I chosen to have buttons added at the arms and use lacing for the rest), so that the camicia/chemise shows through in more places. It's been a while since I'd bought so many satin gold cord for all the laces lol xDD. I got a cotton batiste Renaissance chemise (camicia) from @fiorentina_costuming 🤩✨, which fits perfectly and is so comfy!

Jewellery-wise, I got a replica of an Italian Renaissance necklace from @renaroquedesigns , as well as a pair of Renaissance/Tudor-inspired earrings from Frogsandprinces (both on Etsy). Really like how it all looks together! (and I've been definitely wearing these earrings for fancier daily looks as well ✨). I debuted this upgraded look during a Summer trip in Florence in July 2025.

New additions for my late 14th-early 15th Century cotte outfit ⚜️! A pair of burgundy Medieval shoes and striped 'hose' from Armstreet ✨, and some tablet-weaving garters from @/emelunashop on Etsy ✨. I got it all in dark green and burgundy to fit the colour pattern of my damask cotte ensemble 💚💗

Also, some casual test pics (I since had the cotte slightly altered to remove a couple of front seams and give me more lacing allowance, and lowered the chemise's neckline as well to better fit the cotte), featuring the open hood and a couple of styles with the (faux) pearl-beaded linen veil. I have pretty much shied from the wimple styles in my Medieval reenactment so far because well, the baggage for female headwear is deeply steepled in religious patriarchy and gendered modesty mindsets, and that issue has always bugged me 😬. It can look interesting from a purely fashion standpoint, but yeah, it's hard for me to separate the two from a feminist pov. Still, I tried it very casually with a separate linen kerchief to see how it would look (minus the braids) 😅

Greetings from set! I promise to get back to all of your messages and questions later this week! I'm currently working as a cinematographer on a shoot at a Civil War reenactment, so I don't have computer access out here. Always a special experience working with J.R. Hardman (top photo) on the documentary Reenactress. #TokenTrans But I just wanted to say thank you for all the additional insight, support, critique, and questions I've gotten this week. Y'all are a passionate bunch of fans and I really look forward to where these discussions and conversations will go. Also when-extremes-meet is amazing.
