“okay i gotta admit mulled wine isn’t as bad as i thought..” russell chuckled softly, taking another sip from his mug.

both of you were sitting comfortably on the couch beside one another, shoulders and knees touching.

colter was on the sofa chair and reenie got cozy in the hanging basket chair, blanket wrapped around her.

you invited them over to your home for a humble christmas dinner. nothing too fancy, just a dinner and drinks, and since you couldn’t get your hands on eggnog in time for the season – mulled wine it was.

“anyways.. what were we talkin bout?” he asked, his words slightly slower than usual. the wine was definitely getting to him, especially that it was his third mug already.

this man did not know what pacing himself was, typically when something tasted good.

“about whether socks are a cool christmas gift or not.” you reminded him, smiling at his slowness. it wasn’t too obvious, but all three of you knew russell well enough to tell the wine was getting him drowsy.

“pfff of course they’re cool! especially when they’re all warm and fluffy. hmm gotta love the softness.” russell spoke passionately, the alcohol making him extra honest.

suddenly russell put his hand on your thigh, it wasn’t anything extraordinary since you two have been dating a long while now, colter and reenie rooted for you in the first place.

you rest your hand on his, smiling at his silly state.

“i think the wine is hitting huh?” reenie teased, raising a cheeky brow.

russell scoffed, “what, me?? nah. nope i’m good, alllll good here. no wine can do what a whiskey can. i’m fine.” russell blabbered, only making the three of you laugh.

colter shook his head with a smile. “yeah right.”

you tried to keep in a laugh, finding his denying completely hilarious considering that all of you can see the fairly quick effect of him not pacing himself.

he grabbed you gently by your chin and made you look him in the eye, your faces inches away.

“did i ever tell you how much i love you?” russell grinned, giving you a soft peck on the lips, making your heart melt and lips smile.

“yes babe, you have.” you nodded, then whispered into his ear, “but i’ll never get bored of it.”

a smirk formed on both colter’s and reenie’s faces, then they looked at each other.

“awwh adorable.” colter cooed.

“who would’ve known russell is so lovey-dovey, huh?” reenie joined in on the teasing.

“that’s because i found the right woman to teach me.” russell answered honestly, his eyes never leaving your.

despite him being tipsy on wine, his glossy from alcohol eyes were full of love and adoration for his woman.

you couldn’t help but smile like an idiot, the fact he didn’t have a problem showing affection towards you in front of others made your heart flip and melt, even if it’s with a little help of fancy booze.

“i love you.” you whispered before giving him a soft kiss.

So, surprise!! Tracker is an SF thriller now. I'm delighted by this turn of events. The twists and reveals were interesting.

The setup of chrono stasis reminded me of Hawkins Lab, although I doubt portals will be opening and monsters running around. But the stuff about precog kids and the shady experiments and I think it's pretty obvious what's in that folder that the shady government guy used to force Russell into working for him. Which Russell agrees to do in exchange for that folder, to protect his brother from further trauma. Ashton Shaw probably experimented on Colter. Colter therefore would be slightly precog--no wonder he's so good at finding people. Yes he's a perceptive, empathetic, smart person but there could be some enhanced abilities involved. This effectively also touches the show into the superhero genre, of the Daredevil type--not massive superpowers, but enhanced humans.

I've really been enjoying the characters this season. Colter, Randy, Reenie, who all care for each other and look after each other, with some good grace notes from Keaton the retired detective, who seems like he's becoming something of a surrogate dad for Colter.

One of my favorite moments this season was Reenie finally opening up to Colter about her PTSD and telling him about how her childhood, with a distant mom and an absent military dad, she felt scared and alone and how her kidnapping and assault and PTSD threw her back into being that scared, lonely kid. And Colter, unable to use "I" pronouns, tells her something like, you're not alone, you know there's a lot of people who care about you (gosh you have anyone particular in mind Colter?)

And I really like the dynamics between the Shaw brothers. Jensen and Justin have a great on screen rapport and I expect we'll see Jensen again in S4.

While I started watching the show to see Jensen, I wound up liking it and Colter Shaw--who is emotionally repressed, and very reserved and guarded, but cares very deeply and is very empathetic and kind as well as being a badass who finds missing people. It's not the typical square jaw stoic hero who has a tough guy facade. The facade is self-protective due to trauma but there's no tough and gruff facade. He's quiet but cares a lot.
