How much older would you say Russell is than Colter?

How protective would you say Russell is of Colter? Like Dean Winchester protective big brother or a different kind?

Hi! Yes, I do watch Tracker. :) Although I didn't watch a lot of episodes from Season 3/the latest season yet, so I need to catch up with the show. I watched all the episodes with Russell though.

It was great that Jensen was able to be in four episodes this season. :) I finished watching those last two episodes (3x21, 3x22) recently (late to the party whoops), and I miss Russell already. But I liked the Russell whump in the finale. And on your question on what kind of protective Russell is with Colter, I don't feel he's as protective as Dean is with Sam. Dean is a whole other level of overprotective toward Sam.

But Russell does really care about Colter and did come to save him (like in Season 2 when Reenie called for Russell's help to find Colter and Russell went looking for him and ended up rescuing him), so Russell is the protective big brother toward Colter, but maybe not as intense as Dean? Since on Tracker, most of the time Colter is on his own tracking down missing people without Russell by his side (compared to SPN, Sam and Dean were on hunts together a lot).

Then again, Tracker is set up differently with Colter being a "lone wolf" type of character, so Russell being with him all the time wouldn't fit that established premise for Colter. But Russell was a protective big brother to Colter at the end of Season 3 by deciding not to tell Colter what he learned from that file about Colter-- the bad news that I'm sure Russell feared would upset Colter.

So his course of action was to leave without seeing Colter again to tell him goodbye. It was an emotional decision, I felt, since I do think rationally, Russell knew Colter was capable of digesting the new info. But in the end, it's emotion that wins out. That protective big brother instinct?

Conclusion: Russell is certainly protective when it comes to Colter, but not as strong as with the Sam and Dean dynamic.

I believe Russell is three years older than Colter, which was brought up in the pilot episode since that one had the flashback. Colter was 15 in the flashback and Russell was 18 (making him old enough to leave and be on his own (join the army... I think it was the army? Need to rewatch) after the messy situation with their Dad's death).

But I was surprised to find out with the actors themselves-- Justin Hartley is the older one and Jensen is the younger one (not by much though). And yet Jensen is playing his older brother. I bet playing the older brother for years on SPN was an advantage for him. ;) You can't even tell really anyway that Justin is older. 🙃
