WEIRD MORMONISM IS THE BEST MORMONISM
So General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is tomorrow! And normally I love blogging in the ldsconf tag, and following along with everyone else's thoughts. But I just found out about this small other denomination, Reform Mormons, who are having their first general conference and I think I'm gonna watch this instead this time, just to see what's up.
I think I'll still live blog and tag it #RefConf if anyone else wants to watch it with me
Evan Sharley's talk about different views of the Godhead within Mormonism is fascinating. Much of it I'm familiar with but her insight about how fluid and changing Mormons understanding of what "God" means is something I hadn't really thought about before. I love that she doesn't seem to be arguing for one view over another, she is just exploring what the different views of the divine influence us to prioritize and how to act.
Makes me want to reread the Lectures on Faith.
A talk entirely debunking that human nature is inherently contrary to divinity? I'm here for it

Salvation is not a destination we go to when we die, it is about learning and growing!!
Love that this guy is talking about basic Mormon teachings about spirit+body=soul and the idea of intelligences not being created and the inherent divinity of humanity, stuff I grew up talking about at home all the time but never heard at Church.
