Well, with a size of 3.95 mm x 3.4 mm x 0.9562 mm, this reflective incremental encoder is designed ideally for high volume application. The AEDR-871x has digital outputs which is why it is suitable for printers, copiers, card readers, miniature camera modules, optometric equipments, and the likes.

How I wish companies like Xerox, Epson, Canon, Brother, and many others are using AEDR-871x encoders. I'm pretty sure this will yield more productivity with less maintenance and less cost. This component may be small, it's even the smallest of its kind, but it performs a great part. This device is truly a great space-saver.
