He shows in 6 step detail his hacked methods on how he built a fully grown self sustaining forest in his backyard. He quit his job and does this full time.

I planted these mangroves 6 months ago in the anticipation of my air travel this year. Today I came back from a return flight to Melbourne from Cairns, Australia. The journey was 4,626km and totalled 6 hours in the air. 6 hours in a medium domestic aeroplane is responsible for 0.82 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Let's round that up to 1 tonne of CO2, for argument's sake. -- It takes about 6 or 7 trees to offset 1 tonne of C02 and the mangroves pictured here, once established, will sequester four times that of a rainforest tree. So planting these 35 mangroves is equivalent to planting 140 rainforest trees (in terms of carbon storage). That will store 21 tonnes of C02! Which means I could've done this return flight 21 times over...but I won't. -- With mangroves, most of this carbon is stored in the soil beneath the trees while providing countless benefits for coastal communities. They act as storm barriers, protecting inland areas from flooding and erosion by dissipating the energy of big waves and king tides. They help filter river water of pollutants and trap excess sediment before it reaches the ocean.
