Hermitcraft Refresh AU - Merchant Era 02
Wels hesitantly spoke again. “Sir, this is a respectable shop. If you have no business here, I must ask you to leave.”
The stranger laughed, a cold chuckle that seemed to reverberate about Wels’s skull. “Oh, I have business here. And it has to do with you.”
Wels straightened himself to his full height. “What have you to say?”
“I’m going to offer you a second chance, Wels.” Here the other flinched, knowing full well that he hadn’t given this mysterious man his name. The stranger continued: “I know you’ve always dreamed of something better. A life lived to its fullest, full of adventure and excitement.”
Despite himself, Wels nodded. “What of it?”
The man laughed again and finally pulled down his hood, letting Wels get a full look at his face— or rather, what wasn’t his face. His head was covered by a strange helmet, unlike any Wels had ever seen. An opaque red visor gleamed at the front of his helmet while an odd contraption below filtered air through it. Such a marvel of technology had never been seen before that time, and wouldn’t still for centuries. The man extended his hand across the counter. “You have but to take my hand, and that life will be yours.”
It was an enticing offer, to be sure. Actual excitement? A life free from the confines of monotony, repetition, and dreariness? His mouth made the decision before his mind did. “It’s a deal,” Wels said, shaking the stranger’s hand.
The moment their fingers touched, the world turned black, and Wels was falling, falling, falling….
What's that Wels-centric AU you mentioned?👀👀👀
guess you’ll have to find out >:D
But I will say it has to do with before Wels got to Hermitcraft…
Hermitcraft Refresh AU - Merchant Era 01
Wels had been born into a family who did nothing outside of living their life and selling plants to people. Their apothecary, which had been built painstakingly about five generations back, was proudly named THE TOWER APOTHECARY. The name was fitting since it had been constructed like its namesake. At six years old, young Wels began working there with his mother and father— though “working” is perhaps the wrong word. In reality, he simply walked around and picked pretty flowers, despite his parents constantly telling him not to.
It was a simple life, and though he enjoyed it, he’d always longed for something more. And when he was 23 years old, actually working as a clerk now at the apothecary, the found an unlikely opportunity to turn his life around.
It was noon on one particular winter day and the snow was piling up. Wels expected few customers, as traveling out in the snow was a dreadful business. Even so, a hooded figure entered the Tower Apothecary and simply stared at Wels, unmoving.
“Welcome to the Tower Apothecary,” said Wels cautiously. “How may I help you?”
The stranger raised his head slightly, but his face was still masked by that dark hood. “I believe…” he spoke, his voice distorted and raspy, “The question is: How may I help you?”
For some reason, Wels shivered….
