Setting is a fake Zoom meeting. A bunch of participants are on webcam with their different studies and living rooms as background. There are cute interior design details and occasionally someone's kid, spouse, cat or dog can wander through. One person (or more) do(es)n't have webcam on.
Things start happening in the backgrounds of some participants. Starts subtly with people who aren't talking at the time. Gets more overt.
Characters start remarking on Things in the meeting chat.
As tension escalates, someone's power goes out and they leave the call abruptly.
Player participation (if game) can involve getting screenshots (using a button provided within the fake Zoom interface) of Things appearing on camera and/or warning people. But you also have to advance the meeting slideshow when prompted or you'll be kicked off the call and probably fired!
Use this idea if you like! You can credit "Suitov" for the concept if you use significant portions of the idea.
TERFs and REGs can't use this concept because if they do they'll get a really embarrassing illness.
(Like âTannerâ or âWainwrightâ; family names that refer to an occupation.)
Wikipedia: English occupational surnames
Wikipedia: Occupational surnames
Ideas for use:
đ” Your generic medieval village needs a bunch of generic NPCs and youâve already used Thompson, Dickson and Harrison in so many campaigns your players have started riding into towns and asking for them by name. Thus: Jane Carter, Adam Cooper, Betty Smith... easy money, more time for thinking of ways to kill the party (idea: there is a local âThompsonâ, but sheâs a bugbear crime lord).
đ” Similarly, you need a name for a shop or other business (Charbonnier and Daughters Smokehouse).
đ” You want to hint at your main characterâs family history through her name (to give her a strong connection to her home setting, or to introduce a sense of irony to play off, or to set up the family occupation as a plot point down the line).
And do you think you can cure it by hanging these two [murderers]? Do you think you can cure the hatreds and the maladjustments of the world by hanging them? You simply show your ignorance and your hate when you say it. You may here and there cure hatred with love and understanding, but you can only add fuel to the flames by hating in return.
Clarence Darrow, closing argument, Leopold & Loeb trial
Speaking of D&D, NPCs and diversity, when I'm coming up with a rando NPC, I'll quite often roll dice for gender, race and species. (Race being ethnicity, species being orc, lizardfolk etc--so yes, you absolutely have both light- and dark-skinned orcs. Elf race is a thing unto itself because DG's elves are a little dryadic and can have skin from green to red to gold to brown.)
For major NPCs I generally already have a mental image in mind going in, and just manually make sure there's a range. Some species are gender-skewed, such as nymphs.
I donât have hard-and-fast tables for my setting yet, not least because I haven't fixed on population numbers of the city's various species beyond "lizardfolk are most common, dwarves are rare, gnolls don't really do city living at all" and youâll probably want percentages to make a d100 table, but hereâs a simple skin example I just made and will probably use fairly much as-is (full size link):
(Image description: A table showing numbers you can roll on a d10 and what skin tones your result could represent, divided by character species, and listed in the form of possible adjectives the DM could use to describe the NPCâs appearance. Full transcription on request but it may be more fun to create your own.)
Itâs your choice as a DM to describe everyoneâs appearance or just make every NPC some indeterminate guy of no known features. Personally, I like describing. I find it opens up more possible types of interaction and just makes the setting more colourful and alive. It can also thwart the kind of âthey used three adjectives for her! She must be the villainâ metagaming some players might try.
TERFs love aphobes. Aphobes copy TERFs. Here's proof.
Proof #1: Aphobes/acephobes are copying TERF rhetoric. (Biphobic rhetoric too.) Last post on this thread conclusively demonstrates beyond any doubt.
That's the main link in this post; it has many links to supporting evidence, more proof that aphobic rhetoric is copied from radfems, etc.
Proof #2, expanding on part of proof #1: Aphobic/acephobic ace discourse is being promoted by TERFs. This is no longer up for debate. TERFs admit it in their own words.
By promoting ace discourse you're helping TERFs and hurting trans women. (If you can't see how, the first link above explains.) That's aside from hurting aces and legit forcing them into hiding - ironic that TERFs have to disguise themselves on tumblr but so do some of their victims, huh? - because maybe you don't care about that because you think aces are evil and deserve it, but you're wrong.
Proof #3: Think you can spot TERF rhetoric? Here's evidence that many people can't, again in TERFs' own words, boasting about spreading their rhetoric by stealth and laughing at their mutuals for falling for it.
Side note: If you see 'lesbians' gleefully engaging in aphobic discourse, try to keep in mind that RADFEMS CALL THEMSELVES LESBIANS and MAYBE THERE IS A CONNECTION THERE.
Here's the bottom line.
If you claim to hate TERFs but you promote aphobic hate that recycles TERF arguments, YOU are a large part of the problem. YOU are normalising bigotry. YOU are helping their divide-and-conquer agenda. YOU are marching with the reactionary thugs shouting for purges. YOU are being a bad queer ally. YOU are singing from the TERF hymnsheet. And do you think they'll respect you for it? I call your attention again to link #3 above. You're unknowingly working for them and they're laughing at you.
If you look at all the evidence linked in this post and many similar ones, and you still hold to aphobic discourse, I will consider you their willing ally.
This is why learning all your social justice knowledge from Tumblr, instead of from people who've spent their entire adult lives protecting their queer community, is a terrible idea.
I'm so sick of this. I'm not up for debating this. I don't respect or acknowledge a 'debate' about whether I should have the right to exist and feel safe. I don't care if you consider me separate from the 'bad' aces because I'm also trans, intersex and queer. If you come for one of us, you come for all of us, and you have no right.
Edit: bonus link because Tumblr mobile is screwing up my formatting. Link #4: Further demolition of aphobic arguments with sources.
Thread by @Iron_Spike: "Black Hair for Non-Black Artists: a Cheat Sheet Thread. Hi, folks! Just spur-of-the-moment decided to put together sofor folks who want to draw/model black characters in their work, but aren't confident they won't make simple, [âŠ]"
Brilliant tutorial for black characters' hair. Art refs and descriptions for writers.
Also goes into historical reasons for hair straightening, which I knew a little about, but didn't realise it was that long-standing.
Completely gratuitous self-positivity post consisting of nice things people have said about IKCT.
This is for me when I need it, which may be often, because Iâm depressed and rather weak. Kind words about things I spend this much effort on mean more to me than is possible to say. I like sort of clutching them all to my chest as though they are the filling for a stuffed lion.
(spoilers within, obviously)

[ch5] <:( poor Hinata. That search history tells a story with so few words- I just had to pause and tell you how cool it is.
[ch10] Ouch. Really not pulling the punches when it comes to Hinata and him essentially killing himself, are you?
[ch12] I love that whenever Izuru uses his talent you say what talents he's using by addressing him as those talents- it also goes well with the fact that he's mentally a bunch of pieces of different people sewn together.
Omg Nagito is so subby. It's really in character too. I just love him getting distracted by word choices that aren't even that suggestive.
[Nagito will fiND A WAy to maKE IT SUGGEStive, my friendo]
[end] Ahhhh I loved this story! Thank you for writing!
Highlight of this chapter: Ultimate Fluffy Student
[end2] I like Hinata too. It makes seeing his last thoughts, and seeing Nanami react, that much more heart wrenching. In a good way! ... But yeah, def. [didnât read as] bashing. Just a sad teenage boy who didn't really like himself and... made a new person? Donated his body to science? Allowed himself to be lobotomised and rewritten? Yeah, the last one.
DarkWoods, Fri 18 May 2018
[ch7] I love the style this is written in, the subtle humour and Izuru's thought process. I can also appreciate that he's agender and nurodivergent. Can't wait to see how this ends!
[end] This was a lovely story all the way through and what a satisfying end! Great work!

This is definitely the best fic I have read EVER
I low key wish this was the canon that happened instead of dr3 oof-
and izuru loving fluffy things = the ultimate cuteness you CANNOT change my mind
anon, Sat 12 May 2018
this was so cute and surprisingly badass! ...
him offering mukuro a hug was very unexpected, but it was so sweet nonetheless ...
class 77-Bâs dynamic was really good here!... ALSO THE GROUP CHAT WAS A FANTASTIC IDEA and speaking of which I enjoy that Izuru gave them all nicknames too ^^
your characterization of izuru was pretty spot-on, despite this being a canon-divergent fic.
[Considering that anon is talking here about the characterisation of an Izuru who utters the words âfluffy-wuffy babiesâ, this is pretty much the highest honour aaaaaaaaAAAAAAA. This was the first comment I got!! and they thought Izzy was IC! The relief was enOrMouS]
Poor souls who WERE fooled up until the reveal:
DarkWoods, Sat 19 May 2018
[ch7] Well goddamn, you got me lol. I was envisioning him as a stuffed lion despite the tags and I smacked myself at the end of this chapter.
Anon (the Hajime anon), Tue 15 May 2018
Wait, Dandelion's [spoiler]? PLOT TWIST! I'll have to go read the previous chapters again with this in mind...
Pokegeek151, Sat 19 May 2018
[ch8] In regards to author's notes on the previous chapter, I read the tags and I was *still* surprised. A part of me wishes it had indeed been a stuffed animal but you really pulled through in the second half of this. Very well done! And rereadingthe first half with the reveal is fun. Excellent job foreshadowing. The hair follicles paper was what started to tip me off.
