Do you want to play a Regency hunk on the longest running and most successful Regency RPG out there? Of course you do.
First up, we have John Archer.
This ruggedly handsome piece of period drama booty is a 33 year old farmer from Ohio. His Philadelphia cousins tried to set him up with an English cousin of theirs, Adelaide Thorne (played by me). She looks like this:
John heard that he was being set up with a 27 year old English spinster who presumably couldn’t get a husband back home and for some reason objected. He refused to meet her when she came out to America, consequently humiliating her, and stubbornly spent the entire winter alone on his farm. Finally considering it safe to return to Philadelphia when he heard she’d sailed for home, he coincidentally meets her on her last evening. He’s got a beard and smells of horse, she’s pissed off as hell. It must be love. Now, she’s returned to London to try and continue with her life as a ladies’ companion and he’s got on a boat to follow her. Can you imagine this guy in polite London society? Sounds fun, right!? I’m looking for lots of bickering, awkward social encounters, misunderstandings, obliviousness and all the love/hate tropes you can throw a stick at before they eventually sail away to live happily ever after on a farm in Ohio.
My second request is much more nebulous. He doesn’t even have a name, but he is a Mr. ______ Granville, and heir to Granville baronetcy, most of its fortune and one of the largest estates in England. His appearance is up to you provided that he is very attractive and from a period drama.
The Granvilles are the Black family of Regency London - their family motto is pietas in omnibus (duty is all things) but it might as well be semper pur. So when the feckless younger son of the family married his black maid servant and had a legitimate black daughter, you can imagine how that went down. Now her parents are dead and Isabella (my character) is an 18 year old novel writing cutie who looks like this:
She lives with her grandparents who have brought her up as their only surviving direct descendant and have even settled £40,000 on her in an attempt to get rid of her to a not-too-picky impecunious gent. They’re racist as hell but they also believe in the importance of family so that’s quite unfortunate for them. But where will the title go and the estate and the rest of the money? To a distant cousin, of course! Will he be a Matthew Crawley type destined to fall in love with Isabella or will he be a creepy Mr. Collins? How does he feel about the Granville plantations? Has been managing them? Is he an abolitionist or anti? Does he resent the fact that £40,000 has been taken out of his inheritance for the dowry of a black maid’s daughter?
All these questions are open! But I really hope someone will take him.
