it's so aggravating to witness certain corners of fandom relegate davrin to just an accessory or competitor in lucanis' romance. like it's actually so ugly to reduce his character to collateral damage in a messy ass (typically m/f and white) couple. davrin sweetie i'm so sorry these people don't realize you would just mind your business
First coord of 2026! I went to a friend’s place to watch a movie and figured it was a good enough reason to dress up. Coord rundown under the cut :)
when davrin goes "i killed the other one, i'll kill you" at lusacan on tearstone island
finished Dreadnought and also Sovereign by April Daniels. my short review is “wow she’s so 15. Oh my god she’s so 15. It hurts so bad” and my longer one is that
I really enjoyed them both ^_^ I think I would have gotten a lot more out of them in high school (given like. the whole “she’s so 15” thing, & they also generally felt like easier/more accessible reads to me than other books I’ve read recently) but they were great fun and I loved the worldbuilding. I told nic that I hoped these books would wash the nasty aftertaste that the American Superhero Film Industrial Complex has left in my mouth and I think they did accomplish that (it was easy enough to do since the worldbuilding takes itself seriously but not TOO seriously lmao).
Disclaimer that I ended up engaging w them more for entertainment than like. Deep critical analysis… A lot of my personal issues w the books are a product of (what I assume is) their intended audience (teenagers/high schoolers :P) lol. ie, I didnt personally need to be spoonfed a lot of the topics they covered but it wasn’t egregious enough to affect my enjoyment. I do think the pacing felt a littleeee rushed but I did read Sovereign in the span of ~72 hours so that could just be me 💀It’s not like, unreadably rushed though, and honestly the pacing works to drive home the point the book tries to make about just how much responsibility is on the MC’s shoulders now. Awesome!
Overall a solid, accessible read and imo Daniels really captured what it’s like to be a 15 year old girl and dealing with Bullshit 👍
im the worst parent to ever do it.
For every customer that looks at me like I just grew a second head after I give instructions to them in plain clear English I will give Bellona an additional Adverse Childhood Experience. Your time starts now.
just sold my dream car so i can move to my dream city 🥲
