With the news of “Fury from the Deep” being released on DVD soon, plus a forthcoming special edition of “Power of the Daleks”, the lack of (or long delay of) Region 2 DVD releases coming to Region 1 has been really frustrating. People have told me time and again to get a multi-region DVD player. I’ve resisted for the longest time because: 1) I didn’t think they were affordable; 2) I didn’t think I’d have enough room for another player; and 3) (partly related to #2) I already have a DVD recorder that works fine and don’t want to get rid of.
But after doing some research and finding that these things really are pretty affordable and don’t take up a big chunk of room, I’m seriously considering it. The problem is, I have no idea which ones are the best. I’ve looked on Amazon and had seen some good ones with a lot of great reviews... but there are also a good number of negative reviews claiming the players actually aren’t multi-region and only play Region 1, aren’t equipped for the correct voltage for North America, don’t work, etc etc.
I’d like to get something that’s not only decent in price, but will work and will actually be multi-region NTSC/PAL. Do any of you guys have any recommendations? From one Classic Who fan to another, I’d really appreciate it. I’d asked about this on my primary blog but no one answered.Thanks in advance!
