Regular Show
I’ve been watching this show for about 4 years now, and loved every moment of it. From the humor to its 80’s references to its original characters, Regular Show was such a great experience during my middle school to the beginning of my high school years.
Let’s start with the stories told throughout each episode; the majority of the episodes will usually have some comedic value that honestly feels new and fresh. As well as its original comedy, each episode of Regular Show starts off as relatable situations that the characters may get into, but soon turn into something that is still relatable, yet still impossible for it to actually happen. An example is “Pie Contest”, in which the episode starts off with Mordecai and Rigby, the two main protagonists, that beg to judge a pie contest just to have free pie. Halfway through the episode the two 20 year olds encounter a talking pie that bargains with them, but then take back the promise just to eat the people as revenge. Classically original.
Another great element that I’ve experienced while watching any episode of Regular Show is the small or large hints and reference from 80’s icons. I’ve seen bands that represent real 1980 bands, classic movies, hairstyles as well as fashion, legendary celebrity appearances, and the episode’s soundtrack that would consist of the use of instruments that would most likely be heard in 80’s music.
Although it airs on Cartoon Network and its target audience will most like be kids, there’s still the humor that will have even the adults laughing. I’ve watched this show with my parents, and they are always ecstatic and nearly dying of laughter whenever it comes on; my dad especially when I put on the episode, “Picking Up Margaret”.
I know I’ve missed a couple other things that makes this a show that’s anything but Regular, so these are but a few elements of the show that’s enjoyable to experience.
