“Knowledge is power? No. Knowledge on its own is nothing, but the application of useful knowledge, now that is powerful.”
Wand: 13", Willow, Unicorn hair and unyielding.
The youngest of the Black children, Regulus wasn’t weighted down with expectations like his brother Sirius or even his cousin Bellatrix. It was quite the opposite and almost as if his parents had forgotten that they had a second son that was perfectly capable of living up to every request that they laid out before their eldest. Where Sirius was ill-mannered and defiant, unable to follow a simple order that was given to him, Regulus was the opposite. From birth, the boy was small but carried himself with a purpose. At a young age, he was willing to do anything that was asked of him and he was able to follow the directions before him. But instead, he lived in the shadows and watched as his elder brother continued each time to let down his parents, watching the beatings that were delivered. If there was one thing that Regulus knew it was that if he had ever gotten the chance to be in his shoes he would have made them proud.`
Hogwarts was a means to an end but if you asked Regulus his time would’ve been better spent anywhere else. He had been alone as a child and this was no different, the majority of friends that he made were due to his family name. Truth be told he enjoyed spending his time on his own. Being alone meant that he had more time to focus on learning outside the classroom and that only meant that with each lesson in class Regulus found himself growing more and more impatient with the education that he was being given. If you asked him he was above it and for that reason, he took to expanding his knowledge as far as he could. A feat that was easier once Slughorn granted him access to the Forbidden Section of the library, his thirst for knowledge finally quenched as he made his way through the books, reading as many as he could. It was there that he learned his greatest weapon wasn’t his ability to follow orders instead it was his knowledge.
Salvation came in the form of his brother doing him a favor, the kindest thing that he had ever done for him–leaving. Finally, there was a chance to prove his worth and he stepped forward to take his step as the Black family heir, the youngest member of the Death Eaters to take the Dark Mark. He was ready for any mission given to him and followed the orders that he was given with desperation to work his way up the ranking and prove his worth. What he was certain would make his parents proud did nothing because instead they were too wrapped up in the fact that Sirius had disgraced the family name. Regulus was livid, he was doing something that they didn’t even acknowledge. Orion and Walburga were the first two that he was able to apply his studies too. Killing his parents was no easy feat, making it look like an accident was even harder but Regulus played the grieving son well, so well that the Aurors never looked further into the cause of the fire at Number Five Grimmauld Place.
Regulus never returned to school for his seventh year of Hogwarts, finding it pointless given that he couldn’t do anything worthwhile in school. Continuing to be looked over as nothing more than a child by his fellow Death Eaters, he’s waiting and is biding his time. Well aware of the fact that the Dark Lord created Horocruxes, with just a little patience can only hope to learn the location of them. He can only hope that he will be able to destroy them and in turn Voldemort, proving his worth to everyone once and for all.
BELLATRIX LESTRANGE -- His cousin and perhaps the one person that Regulus trusts, but unfortunately he could never do so fully. He knows what she would do to protect the Dark Lord and for that reason, he keeps her at arm’s length.
SYBILL TRELAWNEY – He can only hope that Sybill is as gifted as he believes that she is. The truth is that he wants to become friends with her because perhaps if all else fails she could help him find the Horocruxes.
SIRIUS BLACK – As children, he wanted to look up to his brother, he wanted to be him. But that’s all changed. Regulus cannot stand the person that Sirius has become and is livid that he couldn’t do what was expected of him. They could have been great together.
