Character's Ages

Mary came to France when she was fifteen and it's been two or three years--halfway through season 1 Kenna said that they had been there for over a year and a year or more has passed since then in the show's universe. 

So right now Mary and her ladies are seventeen or eighteen (in real life Mary was eighteen when Francis died, so this makes sense.)

I know that Torrence is much older than the rest of the cast (he's actually in his thirties), so maybe his character is meant to be slightly older than the rest of them. In the first few episodes especially I thought his character was a couple of years older just by the way he behaved and talked.

I think Conde, though this show has aged him down from his historical counterpart, is still meant to be several years older than Mary and Francis, so his character is probably in his 20's and Antoine is probably in his late 20's or early 30's. 

Being seventeen or eighteen back in the 16th century would be like today's equivalent of someone in their mid-twenties, just with the more adult and responsible mindset of someone older. Back in those days there was no such thing as being a "teenager," you went from being a miniature adult as a child and toddler to being a fully fledged adult around age fourteen or so. Girls could get married around age nine, but just so you know that doesn't mean they were old enough to have sex and have kids then, thankfully, so couples usually waited until a "woman" was fourteen, fifteen, or sixteen before they had sex in case she got pregnant. So in this universe the characters of Reign would be regarded as adults or mini-adults and would be expected to behave, talk, think, and act like mature adults.
