It's crazy how life experience can bring greater perspective, through trials and struggles. It's not the things that my wife does that make me love her more, although they are great. It's actually my iniquities that make me think, wow God loved me through these things?! Which makes me want to exemplify THAT for her. What better way to show my wife how much I love her, than to love her when it is most difficult, or when she in my mind, is "undeserving". This is a skill that has to be learned, practiced often, and sustained through discipline, if you wish to "make it." By nature, we are so quick to cut people off/out because their behavior doesn't align with our wants. Culture says when you "fall out of Love" or when "the spark" dies, find a new flame. This is the biggest fallacy when it comes to relationships!!! Learning to Love someone when it is hard, takes WORK!!! So, if you want to only love someone on the surface level, keep homie hopping, 👁👄👁 or keep loving people only when you feel like it. If you want to experience the true fullness of Love, you gotta go to the source. You can't experience something that was never learned, or practiced. It took me 2 failed marriages to realize this. I was only able to love to the capacity, I understood and I was willing to. Now, when I'm at my capacity, I allow God to step in and show me I still have room for more. Just as I have failed Him, so many times, I will fail my wife, and her me. But it is in those moments, that your relational endurance is being tested and grown. You have to learn it, practice it, and then when you're at your peak, have the discipline to keep doing it.
