The First of Many

Just over a month after the Metallo Incident in Metropolis finds Detective Heather Sawyer limping into the bullpen of the Daily Planet. She's looking for a very specific deejay who she has an avid interest in. Will she be able to charm and woo Miss Avery Tremblay? Where will this day in late October bring them and their relationship?

Lesson from tonight’s D&D game...

If you make it small and maybe a bit ugly, the group might try to adopt it as a pet and/or child

The only thing I like about working out or doing yard work is that it helps me come up with ideas for my d&d campaign

Today, I developed more back story for a very important npc and I feel proud of it

You know what’s neat about D&D? Studying about different things so that you can develop your world/characters

For example, I’m currently learning about different kinds of spoons because I have an NPC who was raised in a noble household and he has his own personal set of silver cutlery that has his initials engraved on them and he insists on eating like a noble as opposed to his comrades (twin mercenaries raised as soldiers and fraternal twin bodyguards with no manners whatsoever)

World of Falamar

I’m going to try to type down what happens in my D&D session so that I can try to keep track of things

For the party’s first quest, they are to escort an apprentice wizard as he delves into a dungeon for an artifact that would please his master. The wizard, his name is Adam Maxwell, would normally be able to do this by himself but the idiot accidentally broke his wand and is locked out from using his higher level spells.

This is where he seeks out bodyguards, pack mules, and disposable trap dummies

For the disposable trap dummies, their job is to spring any traps in a way that would only get THEM killed/hit by it so that the rest of the party won’t be affected. Adam decided to find someone who would fit this role by going to the city’s prison and buy a few prisoners. One such prisoner is a high elf bard named Sosu Talo (played by @klonoadreams). There were supposed to be other prisoners but I kind of forgot about their existence so... I’ll just say that they got eaten by wolves or some other shit.

Next up, Adam need to hire bodyguards and what better way to find them then at an inn. At the inn, Adam met a tiefling sorcerer named Lowen Davis (who does not have a tumblr so I can’t tag him in this, hi Nick) and an Aarakocra cleric named Awfweet (played by @kurobookish). After Sosu grew exasperated with trying to eat what could be charitably be called food (I called it porridge’s bastard cousin), she thought that the best course of action was to headbutt the bowl that it was in, she rolled a crit fail and ended up hitting the edge of the bowl and sent the muck flying towards a very unfortunate tiefling. What happened next was Adam awkwardly hiring him as a bodyguard as he help the man clean his hat. Adam then hired Awfweet after deducing that she’s a cleric, also awkward because he really doesn’t know how this whole “hiring someone to protect my sorry ass as I go into danger” thing works

This is also where a silver scaled dragonborn paladin known as Kriv of Clan Norixious (played by a friend of mine from High School, hi Issy) is introduced, since he heard the commotion coming from the inn after a certain elven bard nearly started a food fight. Adam takes this moment to also hire him, again in an awkward manner

Once when everyone agreed, even Sosu despite the fact that she really has no say in the matter, they decided to buy a room for the night and go to sleep, except for Kriv who bought his own room because he’s loaded. Interestingly enough, this is where one of the characters spills first blood by murdering a poor man who was recovering from surgery. I am, of course, speaking of Sosu Talo jumping on top of the guy with enough force to kill him. She then proceeded to steal his shirt before going to sleep, much to the horror of Lowen Davis

That’s the end of part 1, part 2 will talk about the group’s first combat experience and the hiring of Nalhira, the Genasi Fighter (played by @plou-ton) and the human druid named Zelman (played by @solidsquirrel)

Finally finished another

I just finished another character sheet so now that makes 3

For those that are curious as to who these characters are, they’re a mercenary company that has been hired to protect a city that’s been dealing with bandits

The mercenary company is led by a pair of twin fighters, Kamala (knight archetype) and Estelle (battle master archetype) Bernadotte. There’s only five (technically three) members of the group while any extras are either townspeople that they’re training or, in the case of one of the player characters, is an adventurer that they hired to help them. The twins usually go by their nicknames instead of their actual names, Star for Estelle and Comet for Kamala

Next up on the list is the NPC whose character sheet I had just completed: Benedict Rogue, adoptive son of a powerful wizard and businessman known as Corus Rogue. Ben is a Grave Domain Cleric and is constantly shadowed by his two bodyguards (who are also twins, although this time it’s fraternal twins instead of identical twins like Kamala and Estelle) named Jaeger and Raina.
