Lycaon Squad is finished and ready to rend flesh and metal alike.
I think painting five at a time might be my limit, I think for the next squad I'll try three at a time. Easier on my energy and my back.
But I'm super pleased with how these turned out, especially since Relic Terminators aren't street legal in 40k and there's no reference for them in Iron Snakes colors.
Guess I’ll be starting painting up some of the models I got a while ago, working on my 30k Dark Angels Legionairs / 40k Fallen DA as a Chaos Army.
I really like those relic terminator suits.
This started out as a experiment in making molds from a bunch of random decoration rocks, casting them in fimo, and then sticking them on bases with superglue.
Worked out very well, and the hardened/baked fimo clay is able to be carved easy enough to cut off any overhangs for a smooth edge.
As for the Models, I may have wanted to do some milliput sculpting on them to add things like cloth and chainmail on them before priming, but I started looking up for references after I already started painting.
As for the references I am a bit miffed that all the Dark Angels Legion references exclusively have sculpted shoulder pads, and there wasnt really a pattern available for smooth shoulder pads that I could Idenify to be officially for the legion.
So I opted to emulate the sculpted shoulder pad look with freehand painting, which took me time, but it’s easy enough to do, once I dug out my fine detail brush. Reminding me how important a good fine brush really is.
The Heavy Intercessors of Atlas Squad are complete. Frustratingly huge mold lines on one set but that should get covered up when I prime and paint them.
Yes, the Sergeant is akimboing heavy rifles. I saw an opportunity and I took it.
But that's not all, the dark counterpart of Squad Heracles is also complete. Relic/Assault Terminators of Squad Lycaon.
