Musings
I have always, always been conflicted. Or the world says that I should be.
I am a scientist and I believe in the big bang, in evolution, in evidence and falsifiable claims. I believe that these ideals I hold as truth can and will change over time. I revel in the death of stars, in the Pauli exclusion principle, in the series of events that led the human race to where we are now.
I am a Catholic and I believe in kindness, compassion, and that doing good things feeds my soul and others’ as well. I believe in God and that He’s helped me a billion times in my struggles; that without Him I won’t be where I am today.
Why can I not be both?
This world is so frustrating sometimes. I saw this video about someone who says evolution is practically bullsh*t because it takes a lot more of faith to believe in it than to believe in creationism. I read this article about how kids brought up in a religious background aren’t as good at sharing and give harsher punishments than those from nonreligious backgrounds.
Bottom line is, we’re not bridging any gap here but I hope (yet kind of doubt) that it will ever happen. It’s really sad.
