Our Obsession: Half and Half

This week, we are giving a nod to all the couples celebrating the holidays apart. Our latest obsession, “Half & Half,” is a photo project by Danbi Shin and Seok Li, a Korean couple in a long-distance relationship between New York and Seoul. Posted under the Instagram account @shinliart, the series composites halves of each person’s point of view together to create a complete picture. Each half is taken simultaneously, despite the 14-hour time difference. We love that not only is “Half & Half” an exploration of creative collaboration, but it also uncovers sweet and simple similarities between two cities that may seem worlds apart.

Envy/Jealousy

Now I'm sure everyone has been in some kind of situation were someone is jealous of you or over you for one reason or another. Let me explain why this is not a good quality, regardless of what most people say. Nope, don't want to hear the old “its cause they care” or “i just don't want to lose you.” Jealousy is a horrible trait in a person! If not the absolute worst to have! A jealous person is a person who does not respect you enough to trust you to do right from wrong. To the point were they feel the need to control your every moved and even change you sometimes only to end up leaving once they do not like what you become. Jealous individuals have this idea built up inside their heads that regardless of what you say or do you are still in the wrong. Jealous people may have been betrayed at some point in their life but if they do not want to repeat the past then they are the individuals that need to change their ways and learn to pick out better individuals.

Tabula rasa. For those who have never heard of this, it is Latin for blank slate. Every time you enter a new relationship you have to start with a blank slate. If you are still clinging on to the past then maybe you should not even be in another relationship!

There is a difference between the man who knows a woman's flesh, and one who knows the essence, feel, and touch of his woman's skin. There is a difference between a man who does what she ask and expects a reward in return and the man who does these things because he loves her without much being asked, just to see her happy. There is a difference and when you see it, you are no longer a boy. However, you are not a man, until you can be that man. That man who even in moments she is so cold, loves her as if she's on fire.
